SARBE®, A DIVISION OF LONDON-BASED SIGNATURE INDUSTRIES, ANNOUNCED THE LAUNCH OF ITS MOST ADVANCED SEARCH AND RESCUE RADIO BEACON AT THE PARIS AIRSHOW 2003

SARBE G2R® – Global Reach & Recovery, is the latest in a long line of emergency alert Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs) developed by Signature Industries Ltd. The G2R features 406 MHz transmission giving true global satellite coverage along with near instantaneous response by rescue authorities. Use of GPS allows location identification to within 10 metres ensuring less time spent getting to the scene of an incident and improving the chances of survival of crew members.

SARBE G2R® is the result of a two year strategic plan which has seen considerable resources invested in developing a new generation PLB which offers performance and features that are unmatched by any other military or civilian PLB. PLB’s are used worldwide by air, sea and land forces for the purpose of locating and rescuing isolated personnel.

In Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) mode, the frequency transmissions and data format are enhanced, ensuring that location information transmitted has an extremely low probability of interception or detection. Features such as encryption, randomised data bursts and one-touch silence mode improves the prospect of a rescue mission being successful. CSAR detection is via the SARFIND airborne decoder, providing a complete rescue and recovery system with beacon identity and exact co-ordinates, allowing accurate personnel tracking and ultimately the fast and efficient pick-up of individuals.

In peacetime Search and Rescue (SAR) mode the G2R utilises the global satellite network of Cospas-Sarsat’s distress alerting service, providing accurate location and identification, and allowing a speedy rescue mission to be effected.

Cospas-Sarsat is an international agency supported by 36 countries. They assist national search and rescue teams worldwide by providing an “always on” global satellite-based communication system. Use of the system is on a free-to-user, non-discriminatory basis. Signature Industries expects this latest product - G2R - to be of considerable interest to numerous forces worldwide and to build on the success of previous SARBE radio beacons.
