UK MOD STRIKE COMMAND SELECT SARBE G2R

SARBE, a division of UK-based Signature Industries has announced the supply of SARBE G2R Personal Locator Beacons for the UK Ministry of Defence Strike Command.

SARBE develop and supply PLBs to armed forces in over 40 countries worldwide and the SARBE G2R will be in operation on Typhoon, Harrier and Tornedo jets, used by the UK MOD's select No. 1 Group. The beacons are to be used for the purpose of performing specialist operations whilst in transit and remote regions outside United Kingdom airspace.

Featuring 406MHs transmission which provides global satellite coverage with virtually immediate alert facilities of an incident, the SARBE G2R replaces older generation PLB products which will face obsolescence by 2009.

In Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) mode, the frequency transmissions and data format are enhanced ensuring that location information transmitted has an extremely low probability of interception. Features such as encyrption, randomised data transmission and silence-mode all increase the probability of achieving a succcessful mission.
