SUCCESSFUL WORLDWIDE TRIALS OF SARBE G2R

Following the success of SARBE 8 and the subsequent launch of its latest Personal Locator Beacon, SARBE G2R, Signature Industries has announced highly favourable evaluation of SARBE G2R on a worldwide basis.

The product has met with an extremely high level of interest from several Armed Forces around the world and the company is currently pursuing a substantial number of opportunities, with successful trials already completed in a number of countries.

SARBE G2R forms the basis from which all future SARBE beacons will be derived. The modular design of G2R allows a range of models to be available, offering similar features and functionality to the SARBE 5, 6, 7 and 8. The fundamental change is that all future models will be available with 406MHz and embedded GPS.

CSAR Partnership
During 2004, a Strategic Partnership between SARBE and Cubic Defence Applications was announced. This partnership will ultimately lead to inter-operability between G2R and Cubic’s latest Personal Locator System (PLS) the AN/ARS-6 V12.

Monitoring changes
Organisations using equipment of this type must note that changes in the satellite monitoring facilities for Personal Locator Beacons means that older generation products will face obsolescence by 2009. COSPAS-SARSAT, the organisation responsible for the global monitoring of beacons, has not indicated that the 2009 termination of satellite monitoring is likely to change.

As a result, it is vital for organisations that use these products to take action now in order to plan strategies which will ensure the replacement of beacons within the next 4 years.
