SARBE G2R® Global Reach & Recovery is the latest Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) developed by SARBE which features 406MHz transmissions, giving true global satellite coverage along with near instantaneous alert of an incident.

Already adopted by a number of armed forces worldwide and under evaluation by many more, SARBE G2R® is the result of a strategic plan to replace older generation PLB products which will face obsolescence by 2009, as a result of major changes in international satellite monitoring facilities. Considerable resources have been invested in developing this product which offers performance and features that are unmatched, at present, in both military and civilian PLB’s.

PLB’s are used worldwide by air, sea and land forces for the purpose of locating and rescuing isolated personnel. By utilising the COSPAS-SARSAT global satellite network, an accurate location can be identified and a speedy rescue mission effected.

In Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) mode, the frequency transmissions and data format are enhanced ensuring that location information transmitted has extremely low probability of interception. Features such as encryption, randomised data transmission and silence-mode improve the chances of a rescue mission being successful. When used in peacetime mode GPS can allow location identification to within 10 metres, ensuring less time spent searching and an improved chance of survival.

When used with SARFIND – Airborne Locator System (ALS), the SARBE airborne decoder, G2R forms part of a complete rescue and recovery system with beacon identity and exact co-ordinates being displayed, allowing accurate tracking and ultimately the fast efficient pick-up of personnel. G2R is designed to be integrated with a wide range of other safety equipment such as life preservers, ejection seats and life rafts.
