SARBE
ANNOUNCE LAST OPPORTUNITY FOR CUSTOMERS TO PURCHASE LEGACY PRODUCTS
AT FARNBOROUGH 2004
At
the Farnborough Airshow 2004, SARBE, a division of London- based
Signature Industries, announced its intention to cease manufacture
of a number of older products.
SARBE
is the worlds leading brand of Personal Locator Beacons, with
equipment in use with the armed forces of over 40 countries.
The
company have announced the last opportunity to buy models SARBE
5, 6, 7, and 8. Orders for new beacons and accessories will be
accepted until January 2005 with deliveries planned during 2005.
Batteries, spares, service and support will continue to be available.
The
initial design of SARBE 5 & 6 dates back to the early 1970’s.
These products have been very successful, however improvements
in technology have meant that the latest SARBE® equipment
offers customers distinct benefits over the older models.
The
newly launched G2R forms the basis from which all future beacons
will be derived. The modular design of G2R allows a range of models
to be available offering similar features and functionality to
the SARBE 5, 6, 7 and 8. The biggest change is that all models
will be available with 406MHz and embedded GPS.
Organisations
using equipment of this type must note that changes in the satellite
monitoring facilities for Personal Locator Beacons mean that older
product will face obsolescence by 2009. It is vital for organisations
that use these products to take action now in order to plan strategies
which will ensure the replacement of beacons within the next 5
years.
SARBE
staff will be available to offer technical advice and support
at the show.
